About

Daina Higgins is a contemporary artist and painter best known for her detailed portrayals of urban Northeast landscapes. Using a mix of mediums like oil, gouache, watercolor, and spray paint, Higgins captures the visual and cultural identity of urban sites in the American Northeast and the personal memories intertwined with it.

Her work has been exhibited nationally in New York, Columbus, Philadelphia, Boston, and Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in 15 solo exhibitions since 2005. In 2021 she mounted a solo show at Contemporary Art Matters in Columbus, Ohio. Recent group exhibitions include Basin Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Cerulean Arts Gallery (Philadelphia, PA), Woodmere Art Museum (Philadelphia, PA), and Piano Craft Gallery (Boston, MA). Her work was recently added to the Beth Rudin DeWoody / The Bunker Artspace collection in Palm Beach, Florida.

Uncertain Belonging, Places Lost, Remembered, and Reclaimed, brings together several series of Higgins’ work that explore urban landscapes, societal reflections, and personal memories. Alongside her exploration of inner landscapes, Higgins’ paintings form a portrayal of place and history. The WCC Art Gallery is excited to present viewers with an opportunity to experience Higgins’ unique ability to challenge and reimagine historical narratives and urban identity.
